Legit New Years Resolutions

1) Work really hard at Mary Kay and have 3 skin care classes a week. During the begining of last semester I worked really hard at Mary Kay and had earned lots of money and had lots of fun. After the breakup I took a break from Mary Kay, but now I am ready to be on track.  I am ready to work hard, become a director, and earn my car by next year :)
2) Excerise for at least 1hr three days a week.  Last year my body was so much hotter and this year it is just not.  I don't necessairly want to be super skinny, just really fit.  Like I belong on the cover of shape.

3) Work hard at school and earn a 4.0.  As we all know last semester was less then successful, but this semester is going to be great.  I am going to work hard and earn amazing grades!
~ Hard work is the key to success, so work diligently on any project you undertake. If you truly want to be successful, be prepared to give up your leisure time and work past 5 PM and on weekends. Also, have faith in yourself. If you come up with a new idea that you believe in, don't allow other people to discourage you from pursuing it. ~ Charles Lazarus

4) Become happy being single.  I had been with Chris so long that I don't know what it feels like to be single and comfortable in my own skin.  This year I want to learn how to be myself without a man holding my hand.
I will not go out looking for a man but if someone happens to come along I will take it slow.

“I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naive or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman.”-Sex and The City

This is the man I want one day, but not until I am ready.

5) Be kind to others.  I want to learn to be nice to everyone and most importantly the people to are hard to be nice to.  I am going to show love to everyone because no matter what all people deserve to be loved and treated fairly.

"Make each day your masterpiece." --John Wooden

Happy New Year! With a new year comes new resolutions! Resolutions can sometimes seem like unattainable ideals, but I believe we can all succeed if we really work hard at it. Here are my resolutions!

Cook more, eat out less.
I'm going to plan my meals for the week every Saturday afternoon and then go grocery shopping every Sunday. I'm also going make at least one meal a week that can be eaten as leftovers to save money. Finally, I'm going to spend no more than $20 a month on food.

Get more exercise.
I'm going to walk Nellie every morning and afternoon for a total of 60 minutes. I'm also going to go to the gym at least three times a week to lift weights and go to one class each week. I also want to try to do yoga! (JOIN ME?)

Read and study more.
I'm going to read every night before bed for at least 30 minutes. I'm also going to study for a minimum of one and a half hours a day

Wake up earlier.
I'm going to wake at 8 a.m. everyday. Even on weekends. This is going to be the most difficult one, but also one of the most important.

Look classier each day.
I'm going to shower and do my hair and makeup everyday. I will also wear a nice outfit that will NEVER include T-shirts or sweatpants. I will also try to plan my outfits in advance to make mornings easier.

Stick to a schedule.
I'm going to make a weekly schedule and stick to it no matter what.

Go to church every Sunday.
 This is self-explanatory

Take better care of my skin and teeth.
I'm going to wash, exfoliate, and moisturize on a regular basis. Also, I'm going to FLOSS twice a day (in addition to brushing my teeth, obvi)

Make a budget and stick to it.
I'm going to make a strict budget to stick to. I'm also going to use mint.com to track my spending.

Overcome my anxiety.
I'm no longer going to be scared to sleep in my room alone or to watch scary movies. I will also overcome my test anxiety. I plan on doing this by possibly going to CAPS?

Do something new every week.
I'm going to actually do this like we planned to all semester. I want to do something new every week that I've never done before. It can be little or small, it just has to be a new experience.

Keep a journal.
I want to keep a journal to track my progress and so I can look back and remember my college years with my two best friends :)

Be more domestic in general.
This is kind of similar to the cooking one, but I plan to keep the condo (and our new apartment) in beautiful shape. I'm going to clean a little everyday and decorate. I also want to do more DIY projects and bake more!

Now here are some inspirational photos for you :)

Change is not something that we should fear. Rather, it is something that we should welcome. For without change, nothing in this world would ever grow or blossom, and no one in this world would ever move forward to become the person they're meant to be.

Okay so here are my
NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS!!(as of now)

Take more pictures

I decided I should just take my camera with me everywhere. Not only will that make me take more pictures, I’ll never have to miss a “Kodak moment”. As cheesy as it is I don’t think you really realize how many opportunities for pictures you miss until you start carrying you’re camera with you. Even if it’s just a pretty sunset or a really random photo op with friends, you can never really regret capturing a moment but you can regret not having the opportunity to capture it.

Photography is the beauty of life, captured. - Tara Chisholm

Everything around us, ourselves included, is in constant change. Photography is our means of capturing now - and to remember where we've come from. - Amanda Van

Time will never stand still and those moments that bring us such joy become memories in an instant. To capture such a moment and record it forever is truly monumental. - Joshua Atticks

Do yoga every morning

I’ve always wanted to do yoga and what a better time to start now! Plus, I have no 8ams this semester so I’m going to pretend I do and get up early and do yoga and eat a well balanced breakfast. Maybe if I start of the day well I’ll be more productive during the day! And yoga is good for you! I can improve my flexibility, strength, posture, and reduce stress. So if either of you would like to come over and join me I would love company! We can buy yoga mats and be completely legit yoga-doers.

Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what
cannot be cured.  -B.K.S. Iyengar

Sun salutations can energize and warm you, even on the darkest, coldest
winter day.  -Carol Krucoff

Spend more time with friends and family

So a lot of times I get tired and lazy and sacrifice hanging out with friends for lying on the couch or sitting on facebook. SO, this year I’m going to try to spend more time with friends and keep in better contact with everyone.

"Where we love is home, home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts." – Oliver Wendell Holmes

The family is a haven in a heartless world." – Christopher Lasch

A good friend is a connection to life - a tie to the past, a road to the future, the key to sanity in a totally insane world.  -Lois Wyse

Use my non-existent money more wisely

I’m going to try my best to buy nice things that I really need/want instead of buying cheap sale things that I’ll want to get rid of after I wear them once. Also, I’m going to try to not eat out as much. I think I spend 90% of my money at McDonalds, Taco Bell, Steak and Shake, and Starbucks which for one is not a very classy thing to do and it is also severely hurting my banking account.

He who buys what he does not need steals from himself. - Unknown wise person

Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship – Benjamin Franklin

Learn something new and beneficial each week

Go to the art museum, learn a new star constellation, go to the Kinsey Institute, go to a new kind of workout class at the SRSC, try ethnic food, etc. Anyway I want to start a journal of the new stuff I learn each week and take a picture of each thing and then by the end of the year I’ll feel like a genius and we’ll have good pictures of all the new fun stuff we experienced!
"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience." - Eleanor Roosevelt

"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." – Mahatma Ghandi

Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered,
you will never grow.  - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Volunteer more & work at different kinds of projects

So obviously I volunteer because of APO, but last semester, as with everything else, I kind of did the bare minimum. I’m going to try to volunteer as much as I can without taking too much time away from my schoolwork or spending time with friends. (Or all of my friends could just join APO. ***hint hint RACHEL) Even though I dread going to volunteer after a long day of classes I feel so much better afterwards and it’s a nice break from school to do something good for other people as cheesy as that sounds.

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.  -Elizabeth Andrew

The purpose of life is not to be happy - but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all.  -Leo Rosten

Quit drinking as much

Soooo, as we might know by now I have a bit of a blackout issue. This year I will not black out. I will drink casually at parties but WILL NOT be drunk. Oh, and no more shots. Ever. Unless there are extreme circumstances. I will drink wine, champagne, and mixed drinks only! Being drunk just leads to problems with boys, problems with my liver, problems with people judging you, and problems with the entire next day. Basically, drinking heavily is never worth it. So I’m just going to avoid it.

"Some of the best lessons are learned from past mistakes. The error of the past is the wisdom of the future." – Dale Turner

One reason I don't drink is that I want to know when I'm having a good time. - Nancy Astor

Blog more obviii

I’m going to try and blog every day. In my blogging I will talk about my progress in achieving my goals for the year and I will add motivational quotes and pictures to inspire both of you!

Your blog is your unedited version of yourself.  – Lorelle
“Blogging is the new poetry.” – Author Unknown

Try harder in school and stay on top of my work

A lot of times last semester I did the least amount of work I needed to to get by. This semester and the rest of the year I’m going to work ahead and actually UNDERSTAND what I am learning instead of just cramming right before the test for a class and having mental breakdowns.

Dance more

Dance was completely my life from like 1st grade to senior year in high school. Basically all of my friends were dancers and it was my obsession. Once I got to IU I stopped really dancing because obviously I wasn’t taking classes at my dance studio and I wasn’t on dance team anymore. Soooo, my new goal is to keep stretching and keep dancing when I can so that hopefully next school year I can try out for dance team because I really really really miss it!

We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams. - Anonymous
